Christmas Tree Lighting Festivities

Moosehaven’s most anticipated holiday event of the season, the Christmas Tree Lighting, and its accompanying festivities was held the weekend of December 7-9. Generous members of the Georgia Moose Association have sponsored this popular event for the past 27 years! The number of attendees and activities continues to grow, with this year being no exception!

The weekend kicked off Thursday evening with a pizza party, live music, and lots of fun and laughter. On Friday afternoon, the Georgia Women of the Moose hosted a tea party serving lovely teas and delicious treats to our lady residents while the Georgia men enjoyed lunch and a few beverages with the gentleman of Moosehaven in the Centennial Building. On Friday evening, everyone gathered in the Michigan Building for a wine and cheese party. Santa and Mrs. Claus handed out Christmas shirts and gift cards to all residents in attendance.

On Saturday, residents enjoyed an afternoon picnic of hot dogs and hamburgers. Then in the evening, the grand finale of the weekend – the annual tree lighting program – was held in the Moosehaven Chapel. What an amazing sight to see when the Georgia Moose Association hit the power switch to light the chapel tree and the entire campus came to life! Lights all around Moosehaven and even inside resident homes were simultaneously lit! A reception then followed with plenty of delicious food and eggnog.

This tradition is such an important part of Moosehaven’s Christmas festivities. Words cannot adequately express the gratitude our staff and residents feel for the hard work and commitment of our Georgia Moose Family. The opportunity for fellowship and celebration is truly a gift. On behalf of all who live and work at Moosehaven, we thank you!
