Women of the Moose Grand Regent Marge Walsh (left front) on Feb. 9 happily accepted a check for $10,950 from Senior Regent Betty Snyder of Moosehaven's Opportunity Chapter of the Women of the Moose. The amount, raised solely by Moosehaven's WOTM members, represents one year's individual commitment in the "Gimme Five" program--$36.50--times 300, the rough number of current residents of the Moosehaven retirement community. Accepting, in addition to Grand Regent Walsh, were Grand Chancellor Janet Fregulia (far right) and the entire Women of the Moose Grand Council, at the Moosehaven campus for its regular February meeting. Fregulia lauded the commitment of Moosehaven's women, which she noted was especially impressive given the modest disposable income levels of Moosehaven residents.

Later that morning, the Grand Regent forwarded the $10,950 check along to Moose International Chief Operating Officer Leonard Solfa, who doubles as Executive Director of Moose Charities, which administers the "Gimme Five" program. "Gimme Five" simply asks every member to set aside a spare nickel in the morning, another nickel in the evening from the change in their pocket or purse, and to then send the amount to the segregated "Gimme Five" account at Moose International. It works out to $36.50 a year; $182.50 over five years. If 1 million Moose men and women participate, it will permanently fortify the Mooseheart/Moosehaven Endowment Funds by $182.5 million plus interest--just from spare change!
