Although Moosehaven was founded 90 years ago, the services, amenities and activities meet, and even exceed today’s standards of an active retirement community. Residents can choose to be as active as they like to maintain social, physical and mental well-being. Everyone at Moosehaven, whether they are a resident or staff, is part of a family.
Traditional Residents enjoy private rooms and baths in one of five residence halls. Each hall offers dining, laundry, computer and living areas. Residents receive weekly housekeeping and any maintenance or resident needs are just a phone call away. Meals, clothing, transportation and medical care are provided so that the residents have no worries today or financial obligations for their future care.
Brandon Place residents live in well-appointed homes. Whether they have chosen a one or two-bedroom villa or apartment, homes come with complete kitchens and washer/dryers. Maintenance is included, as well as a home security system.
All residents at Moosehaven enjoy the north Florida climate, the St. Johns River and the 72 acres they live on. At any given time, you may find activities in the indoor heated swimming pool, the four lane bowling center, game room, exercise center, the woodworking shop, the driving range, fishing on the 400’ concrete pier, walking and cycling. A monthly activity calendar boasts of off-campus shopping trips, daytime excursions, dances, dinners and parties. Residents are very involved in crafts, bingo, cards, chess, Opportunity Lodge and Chapter, as well as volunteering on and off campus. A new theater offers a stage size screen with Blu Ray and surround sound systems. Residents participate in Olympic sports, compete in beauty contests and talent shows. There is even the occasional wedding!
Moosehaven enjoys the support of local and regional Moose lodges and associations. Each year, Moosehaven hosts district sports, Florida days, Alabama days, the annual Georgia tree lighting, motorcycle day, Mardi Gras and spring fling. Cooler weather in the fall is a great time for the annual low country boil on the riverbank.
Moosehaven firmly believes in supporting the local community to provide a safe and secure campus for “Heart of the Community” events. Each year, Moosehaven sponsors the Easter egg hunt, trick or treat, and the Fourth of July fireworks, which bring thousands of local parents and children to the campus. Other events include pancake breakfasts, a community spaghetti supper, a sanctioned Chili Cook-off and classic car shows.
